Gearing Up For Super Bowl

Gearing up for Super BowlWhether it's watching your favorite team dominate the field, Lady Gaga's epic halftime performance, the hilarious commercials, or the awesome lip-smacking party snacks, there's a lot to be excited about for this year's Super Bowl. However, with fun comes much preparation! So, here's how to make sure you can make the most of the football festivities - before, during, and after the big game.

1) Prep Your Skin
You’re feeling amped for the game, and you’ve got your favorite team’s jersey out and ready. Next thing you know, your friends have decided to paint their faces, and you’re already wincing about how awful your skin is going to feel after you’ve spent a day with a painted and sweaty face. Gross!

Using an exfoliating scrub is the perfect way to prep your skin before applying makeup, and especially face paint! And if you really want to beef up your pre-game beauty ritual, be sure to follow up with a toner and serum to ensure that that your skin glows brighter than the Super Bowl trophy.

2) Make a Healthy Dip
Healthy skin? Check. Now, what about a healthy body? With the easy access to greasy food, it can be pretty hard to make a healthy choice amid the delicious temptation. Chip dip is a traditional fave for any Super Bowl party, but this recipe will leave you feeling a lot less guilty than the stuff you'll find at your local grocery store. Oh, and if you love avocados as much as I do, you might just want to make this dip all year long!

  1. Start your base with something creamy, but won’t get the rest of the dish soggy. Whipped cream cheese is a great low calorie option.
  2. Next, add a layer of beans. Try using refried black beans if you can. They are really yummy in this dip!
  3. Instead of piling on the guac, slice up some nice and ripe avocados. This will give a solid foundation for the remaining layers.
  4. Next add a layer of plain greek yogurt. Using this in place of sour cream helps achieve the tangy flavor you crave, but without as many calories.
  5. Now time for the motherload! Feel free to pile on as many diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, jalapeños, and cilantro as you please. Then, go to town!

3) Pre-Party with a Smoothie
If you really want Super Bowl Sunday to be a touchdown, don't just stop at delicious dips when you can go the extra yard and treat yourself to a healthy fruit smoothie. With the right combination of ingredients, you'll get a nice nutritious boost that should not only keep you feeling full, but also give you more energy to cheer for your favorite team.

Here’s my go-to smoothie choice for the mornings:
1. Start with carrot or beet juice in an empty blender bowl.
2. Add apples or pears, lemon juice and ginger.
3. Blend until smooth, and enjoy!

This smoothie is a perfect detox and is filled with nutrients and antioxidants.

If you’re looking for something richer, but still healthy, try this metabolism boosting blend!
1. Start with unsweetened green tea and ice in an empty blender bowl.
2. Add vanilla greek yogurt, mangoes and honey.
3. Blend until smooth, and you know the rest!

4) Show Your Spirit
If you’re looking to be the hostess with the most team spirit, here’s your chance. Thanks to Pinterest, you can find amazing Super Bowl Party décor ideas that are super easy for just about anyone to execute. So, here are a few cute DIY ideas that your guests will be raving about.

These little football inspired mason jar glasses are super easy to replicate. All you need is some white electrical tape and soda! You can even create your own name tags to print out in the shape of a flag so nobody will confuse their drinks!

Creating your own SuperBowl Commercial Bingo game, can be fun and keep everyone involved in the game - even non-sports fans! We all love watching the commercials, so why not create some healthy competition to keep it fun? Make your own bingo cards using the logos of companies whose ads you’re expecting to see. To encourage participation, prepare an amazing prize for the winner, such as movie tickets or a gift card!

5) Make Clean Up Simple
As the party is dying down, there is no doubt that you’ll be dying to take your makeup off as quickly as you can, but don't fret. Micellar Water is the answer to all your prayers! Simply saturate a cotton round and swipe it across the skin. All the face paint, eye liner and whatever other crazy team-colored makeup you have on will wipe off without a trace. If you prefer something that provides a deeper cleanse, look for gentle but powerful oil-based cleansers to dissolve thick, heavy makeup that sometimes can’t be broken down by other cleansers.

6) Detox Your Skin and Body
Once you’ve cleansed your skin, applying a detoxify mask is perfect way to ensure there is no pore-clogging makeup left behind. To make it simple, apply a thin layer and allow it to set while your picking up around the house. Voila! Clean home and clean skin in one easy step!

While your skin is detoxing, your body can use the same. Take some time to rehydrate with fresh water. For an interesting blend of flavors, try adding some lime, cucumber, and strawberry slices with mint leaves. The lime kick starts your metabolism, the cucumber and mint refresh, while the strawberry adds some sweet flavor, creating a relaxing and refreshing infusion of ingredients!

7) Rehydrate Your Skin
Once you’ve rinsed off your mask and finished your cleaning, be sure to replenish your skin before you crawl into bed to dream of your winning team. After all the hooting and hollering throughout the game, be sure to keep your night time routine quick and easy. Start by applying a soothing Rose Water Toner to refresh and tone. Follow with a hydrating serum and layer with an antioxidant packed moisturizer to brighten, smooth, and nourish the skin. Prevent dark and puffy eye bags by gently dabbing on a multi-tasking eye gel cream, and there you go! Your team kicked butt on the field and so did your skin!
